De Smaak van Goud is an intimate fine dining setting — for people who appreciate good food in a personal environment. A dedicated chef, a carefully composed menu, and an evening that revolves entirely around the table.

Chef Michel works with seasonal produce from Frisian farmers, fishers and local producers. Every menu is different. Every dish is made for that evening, for those guests.

vanNienke is a goldsmith atelier and a fine dining restaurant under one roof. During the day, Nienke de Boer-van Doorn works in the atelier. In the evenings, chef Michel van Doorn cooks for up to twelve guests. Two crafts, one address, one story.

Nienke's goldsmith atelier. Bespoke jewellery, wedding rings, redesign. Every piece made by hand, every piece a story. Open by appointment six days a week.

From Greece to the Netherlands

Three years of proof.
One concept.

In Epidavros, on the coast of the Argolid, Nienke and Michel ran something that did not exist before: a goldsmith atelier and a fine dining restaurant under one roof. During the day, Nienke worked. In the evenings, Michel cooked. International guests. Three seasons. Three years of proof that the concept works.

In 2026 they brought the concept home. Grootzand 65 in Sneek — a historic building in the inner city of Friesland — became the new home of vanNienke and De Smaak van Goud. Same idea. Same people. New address.

2009

vanNienke founded

Nienke establishes her goldsmith practice. Ateliers in Gouda, Heerenveen and Sneek. Fifteen years of craftsmanship and personal attention.

2022

Epidavros — Restaurant Michel opens

Michel and Nienke move to Greece. A goldsmith atelier and a fine dining restaurant side by side. International guests. Three years of proof.

2025

Greece chapter closes

After three successful seasons in Epidavros, Michel and Nienke return to the Netherlands. The concept, the knowledge and the passion come with them.

2026
